OPERATION RAIN BARREL
Sponsored by the San-Cap Chapter/Southwest Florida Medical Reserve Corps Foundation
The SW Florida Medical Reserve Foundation (MRC), Sanibel - Captiva Chapter, is planning for their fundraising project, Operation Rain Barrel.
The MRC Foundation is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) which supports volunteer medical professionals and interested citizens who donate their time and expertise to respond to our community in times of disasters and health crises. Throughout the year, volunteers provide education, prevention and screening programs to the community and clinical services to the needy.
Rain barrels will be on display from Feb. 18th - Mar. 3th at various key locations on Sanibel and Captiva. Locations include: Jerry’s Market, Traders Store and Café, Timbers Restaurant, The Island Cow, The Bean, Bank of the Islands, San-Cap Community Bank, The Sanibel Library, The Dunes Golf and Country Club, Captiva Civic Center, Sweet Melissa’s, CIP’S Place, The Jacaranda, Twilight Café, and Bailey’s General Store.
Silent bids or donations placed in the barrel will be collected and monitored by our team with a final silent auction. March 4th all barrels will be moved for an exhibit of all the barrels at CIP’S Place from 10-4 on March 5th. Proceeds from Operation Rain barrel will go to buy medical supplies and equipment needed to sustain and expand these activities.
Our rain barrels are not only functional and help conserve water for the island, but each one is a unique, signed and named piece of art. The following local artists have generously donated their time and effort to make this truly a spectacular event: CC Caldwell, Alida Cooper, Jesse Cooper, Maryann Czarnecki, Mary Ann Devos, Randon Eddy, Jane Hudson, Laura Meyer, Thom Millsap, Sue Ross, Jan Rozeboom, Cassandra Soobitsky, Dorothy Wallace and featuring Young artists, Haley Capobianco and the Sanibel Middle School art class.
